France is glad to host the 2009 International
European Amateur Championship. It will take place in Chantilly Golf
Club one of our most prestigious course.
Chantilly, which celebrates
this year its 100th anniversary, received across this century numerous
and prestigious competitions.
|
The landscape of the course,
its technical difficulties, its atmosphere, are the elements that define
this mythical place.
I know the welcome given to all competitors
will be great and a champion will be concecrated. I
am also convinced that all players will leave Chantilly and France delighted.
May the best players win.

On behalf of the members of Golf de Chantilly,
I am delighted to welcome you all to our Club for the 22nd International
European Amateur Championship.
Previous
winners of this event include Sergio Garcia (1995), Grégory
Havret (1999) and Rory McIlroy (2006) who have been most successful
since then.
|
I am sure that all competitors
will be eager to add their name to the Trophy, thus securing a place in
the 2010 Open Championship on the Old Course at St Andrews, and follow
Matteo Manassero’s outstanding achievement as winner of the Silver
Medal at Turnberry.
Having hosted the European
Amateur Team Championship in 1983, the European Boys Team Championship
in 1987 and the European Young Masters in 2008, we are very pleased to
host this major international event on the occasion of our centenary year.
Looking at our Club’s
championship boards in the Dining Room, you will find the names of some
of our game’s most distinguished lady, amateur and professional
champions, including those of Arnaud Massy, George Duncan, Henry Cotton,
Robert de Vicenzo and Nick Faldo, all winners of the Open Championship.
I hope that you will find
our course challenging and enjoyable and that you will keep fond memories
of your visit to our Club.
